Summary:

Irina sighed once, then lifted her hand to brush her hair out of her eyes. Roy had rested his head between her breasts, his breath warm on her bare skin. "Okay," she said. "For the third time, really, Roy, get off of me. *Please.*"

"Nngh," Roy said, his eyes closed. "Can't hear you, comfortable."

"Seriously, the turkey is going to overcook and it's going to be your fault. When everyone is complaining about dry turkey I'm going to very publicly blame you."

She could not see his face from the angle he was sitting at, but she sensed the smile by the way his face moved against her. "Don't care. Content."

Irina had come upstairs to change out of her food-stained clothes that she had been preparing dinner in all day when Roy had ambushed her from behind. Not that she particularly *minded* his ambushes - and he had been rather amorously hinting at his intentions for most of the afternoon while she worked - but they were on a schedule. "Do you really want to still be naked when people start showing up?"

Roy finally lifted his head. He wrinkled his nose, his hair tousled and falling into his eyes. It was stunning how young he actually looked, his expression open and boyish. She could not help but smile at him as he groaned. "Tell them to leave. We've called it off. I want to spend the rest of the evening in bed with you, love."

"That's not how this works and you know it," Irina chided him. "Up, up - I asked Catie to come over a little early to help."

That actually got Roy off of her, swinging himself into a seated position. Irina lay on her back still, folding her arm across her belly and thinking how sad it was when Roy's warmth left. "You invited them earlier? What on earth *for*, I hope you weren't expecting them to help cook, they'll set the place on fire-"

Irina laughed. "Mostly to keep you occupied and out from under my *feet* like you have been all day - but don't tell Catie that."

"I don't need to be occupied. I am quite capable of keeping myself entertained."

"You've been in the kitchen with me all day." Irina sat up and ran a hand through her hair. "What time is it, maybe I have enough time for a shower before they show up."

Roy stood up and stretched and Irina found herself watching him instead. It really was a shame when he found his pants, she would happily have Roy Mustang walk around naked all day if given the chance. As he pulled up his trousers, Irina remembered that she was cold and shivered. "I'll check on the turkey," Roy promised. "Go on and shower."

Irina was still getting dressed when Edward and Catie arrived. She heard them before Roy let them in - they were arguing animatedly about *something*, as they always were. That was status quo for them - always something to bicker over. They might as well be married, they already acted like it.

Edward had his hands full, he had a bag with several bottles of alcohol. "You could kill someone with the pound cake Catie made," he said. "So we brought booze instead."

Catie huffed a little at Edward, but then hugged Irina. "We made it," she said cheerfully. "So what do you need help with?"

Alphonse and Winry arrived not long after - giving Irina time to put Catie to work making biscuits. Winry was *very* pregnant and rather carsick, so she immediately locked herself in the bathroom. Alphonse looked a little pale and Edward smacked his shoulder, grinning ear from ear.

"What's the matter with YOU?" Edward teased him as Roy got Alphonse a drink.

"Winry's pregnant," Alphonse said wearily.

"As she's been for nearly eight months, now. If you're just finding out now-" Catie said in passing, flour somehow in her hair from the biscuit dough. Alphonse shot her a look and Edward laughed.

"Yes, but now there's going to be a BABY," Alphonse moaned. "I can't handle this, brother."

Roy gave Alphonse a glass that was mostly whiskey. "You'll do just fine, Alphonse. You managed to keep Ed alive through puberty, a baby will be a cakewalk in comparison."

"Hey!" Edward said indignantly.

"That's true," Alphonse said.

"Okay," Catie appeared in the doorway. "Who's it?"

"Not it," Edward and Roy said almost instantly. Alphonse looked between them, puzzled, and then over to Catie.

"Get your ass up, Al, I need some help in here. Ed, go check on Winry, she hasn't come out of the bathroom yet."

Edward suddenly looked quite panicked. "Why don't you go check on her? You're a girl."

"Because I am covered in BISCUIT DOUGH," Catie said.

Roy stood up. "I'LL check on her, it's my house."

"Thanks, Mustang," Catie said cheerfully, prodding Alphonse before her. "C'mon Al, you get to be my guinea pig."

"Your WHAT?"

Jean Havoc and Riza Hawkeye were the last to arrive. With a more capable set of hands in the kitchen, Catie was kicked out to the den with everyone else while Alphonse helped Irina prepare the food. Catie sulked into her spiced cider, sitting squeezed on the couch next to Edward.

Winry held court in Roy's easy chair - she was still a little cranky but mostly over her motion sickness. "I am never getting on a train AGAIN, I will have this damn baby in Central and we will *walk* home," she snarled.

Riza smiled into her glass of wine. "When are you due, Winry?"

"At the end of January." Winry rested one hand on her bump. "Hopefully sooner. I am so *over* this."

Catie poked Edward in the side. "You're going to be an uncle. That's so cool."

Riza leaned over the back of the couch and squeezed Roy's shoulder. "So when are you and Irina going to finally make it official?" she asked. "We need to know some dates, sir."

"You'd have to ask her, I'm not in charge of that," Roy said, smiling.

"As if he's in charge of anything in this house," Edward snorted.

Roy gave Edward a dark look. "Well, Fullmetal, I think we should ask Miss Storm about who makes most of the decisions in *your* relationship, then?"

Edward glared right back at Roy, and Catie patted his knee. "That's okay, get all the hostility out now, because otherwise my mother is going to eat you alive tomorrow."

"Ohhhhh shiiiiiiit," Edward groaned, and promptly slumped back into the sofa.

At Riza's enquiring look, Catie explained. "We're catching a late train tonight, so we can be at my parents for Yule tomorrow."

"Isn't your mother a Brigadier General?" Riza asked. At Catie's nod, she laughed. "Well, that explains a lot."

"I'm dead," Edward moaned. "She'll roast me and serve me for Yule dinner. I'm not going."

"You ARE going," Catie said. "We've had this discussion fifteen times today, and she's not THAT bad."

Winry looked around. "Where's Al and Havoc?"

"Havoc went outside to smoke," Roy said. "I think Alphonse went with him-" he trailed off at the expression on Catie and Edward's face as Winry started to get out of the chair.

"Is he smoking AGAIN? I'll KILL HIM."

Catie hopped up. "Sit, sit, sit," she tried to soothe Winry. "I'll go check, I'm sure he's still in the kitchen, please calm down, Winry-" as Edward headed for the door.

"I'll check for him, be back in a minute!"

Irina replaced Edward on the couch between Roy and Catie. She huffed as she sat down. "Food will be ready soon," she announced, as Roy tucked his arm around her waist and kissed the side of her head.

"So I hear you're going to be retiring as a State Alchemist?" Riza asked Catie.

"Yup." Catie nodded, both of her hands on her mug of spiced cider. "Figure we don't need two military paychecks now that Ed's gotten promoted. I'm thinking about going back to school; the main university in Central has an amazing alchemy program."

"You should come with me when I go to Xing in the spring," Irina said, nudging Catie. "I could use the company, since this doofus can't go."

Roy looked slightly injured. "It's not that I don't want to go," he protested.

"Yeah, yeah, Mustang, whatever," Catie waved her hand and everyone laughed. "Where did MY boyfriend go? He doesn't fucking smoke in the first place, did they all get eaten by a Yeti or something?"

Roy started to get up and Riza stopped him. "No, I'll go check," she said.

"We should probably get the table ready anyway," Irina said, nudging Roy. It's almost time for turkey."

Edward was standing outside, huddled with Alphonse and Jean. Jean was on his second cigarette, and Alphonse still his first. "Winry is going to string you up by your small intestine if you don't stop smoking," Edward said, arms crossed.

"It's only an occasional cigarette," Alphonse said. "Stress, mostly. I'll stop when the baby comes."

Jean shook his head in amazement. "I can't believe you're havin' a *kid.* You're still a kid yourself!"

"I'm twenty-two," Alphonse said, slightly insulted by that.

"It's impressive that we lived to see THIS age," Edward muttered, his hands stuck under his arms for warmth. "Never thought we'd ever get to the point of procreating."

"Yeah, speaking of that," Alphonse looked at his brother. "Are you and Catie ever going to-?"

"Jeez, why is everyone asking that right now? You an' Winry start squeezing out brats and suddenly everyone wants to know if we're gonna breed too." He huffed, his breath visible in the cold December air. "Dunno. It's up to her more than me anyway."

Alphonse nudged his brother's shoulder with his arm, grinning. "But you want a kid."

"Maybe someday when things are settled down and I see that you haven't been completely destroyed by one, maybe."

Riza opened the door. "It's nearly time to eat, and Winry is going to have words with you, Alphonse."

Alphonse groaned. "Shit, who told her I was smoking?"

"Hawkeye did," Edward said.

Riza rolled her eyes. "Come back inside, all of you, how have you not frozen to death out here?"

Dinner passed for the most part uneventfully. Edward and Alphonse started up a kick war under the table (which Riza put a stop to), everyone talked work and Irina presided over it all. It was general warmth and good cheer as everyone ate and passed food around.

They sat at the table for a long while, still chatting. Edward made a small snowman out of his mashed potatoes with carrot sticks for arms - at least until Catie ate its head because the rest of the potatoes were gone. Irina laughed involuntarily at an inappropriate joke that Havoc told, which caused Roy to laugh at the look of surprise on Irina's face. Winry talked about her automail clients and lectured Edward at the same time, and Riza talked to Alphonse about his sharpshooting.

They adjourned to the den, leaving the dining room a mess for later. Irina sat with her head on Roy's shoulder, sleepy and full as the discussion continued. Catie claimed a seat on the couch by virtue of sitting in Edward's lap.

They would end up being the first to leave, having to catch that late train. "Happy Yule," Catie chimed, hugging Irina and, to his slightly-intoxicated surprise, Roy as well. Slowly, everyone trickled out after, until it was just Irina and Roy, sitting together on the couch in the now quiet, huge home.

She sighed, content, her head on Roy's shoulder as he drank some brandy that Edward had brought as a gift. Roy had his arm around her, and Irina yawned. He ran his fingers through her hair in a soothing motion. "That was a lot of fun," Irina said sleepily.

"It was," Roy admitted.

"Did Ed tell you that he was gonna ask Catie to marry him?" Irina asked him. Roy continued to pet her hair.

"Yes, he did." He kissed the side of Irina's head. "Perhaps we should set a date, then?"

"Mmm, spring," Irina drowsy.

"Spring?" Roy took a sip of his brandy. "I can work with spring."

They sat in silence in front of the fire that Roy had lit earlier in the evening. "Happy Yule, Irina," he murmured, as the grandfather clock in the hall struck twelve, but she was already asleep.
