Rating: T
Length: 360
Summary: Gotou woke up to an empty bed.
Gotou woke up to an empty bed. He rolled onto his side and put one hand over the area that should hold a body, peaceful and warm - there was no lingering sensation of heat, Masayoshi had been up for a while.
He sat up and pressed his palm to his forehead - four a.m., it was too fucking early for whatever shenanigans Masayoshi had decided to get up to. Gotou shuffled out of bed, yanking his dressing gown from the back of the door as he passed, pulling it on and stifling another yawn.
He heard Masayoshi before he saw him - he might not sing very well, but he could at least hum a familiar tune, soft and slowed down. The lights in the living room were on low, it was still black outside, their dim lights reflected in the large windows.
Masayoshi was walking a cranky baby around the room, rubbing his back soothingly and humming softly. He looked up when he saw the movement, and smiled at Gotou, tired and worn out and still looking so happy.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to wake you,” Masayoshi said softly.
“I didn’t even hear him cry,” Gotou said, as Masayoshi walked over, Masanori making irritated, sleepy noises into Masayoshi’s chest.
Gotou marveled silently to himself when Masayoshi handed him his son - he was so tiny, so little and vulnerable. Masanori opened his eyes and squinted at Gotou suspiciously, then yawned and tucked his face against Gotou’s chest, still making a grumbling noise, but not quite crying.
Masayoshi smiled, head tilted in toward Gotou’s as they looked at the baby together. “My little bird,” Masayoshi said softly, brushing his fingers across Masanori’s tiny head, and starting to hum quietly again.
“That’s the Harakiri Sunshine theme,” Gotou said, finally identifying the tune. “Yep,” Masayoshi murmured. “It usually puts him out like a light.” Gotou laughed softly. Masayoshi lifted his head and caught Gotou’s eye, then smiled as well.
