Summary: "Welcome back, Gotou-san!"

Sometimes when he came home from a late shift Masayoshi would still be up, seated on the floor, back straight and hands planted between his crossed legs, attention glued to the television set like it had a gun on him. His schedule was far more erratic these days than Gotou liked - but he was getting paid very well, so he couldn’t complain much.

He thought for a moment that Masayoshi hadn’t heard him come in, as he leaned one hand against the wall and pulled his work shoes off. He should really know better at this point, Masayoshi had noticed him come in and cataloged it, and simply waited for the commercial break. “Welcome back,” he called, and looked over at Gotou.

“I’m home,” Gotou said. Shoes off, he shucked his jacket as well and walked it to the closet. He patted Masayoshi’s head affectionately as he passed - if he stooped to get a kiss he wouldn’t get up again, he was exhausted and didn’t want to get his clothing wrinkled. “Why are you still up, you know I’m on late shift this week.”

Masayoshi yawned hugely, and rested his head on his folded arms, watching Gotou undress. “I don’t like sleeping in your bed alone,” he said.

Gotou hesitated pulling his tie off - just a moment, but then pulled it the rest of the way off. “It’s our bed, not just mine,” he said. “What’ll you do if I get the overnight shift, you can’t just not sleep, ‘yoshi.”

Masayoshi heaved a huge sigh. “I know,” he said. “I don’t want you to work overnights, I hardly see you as it is.”

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it, I imagine.” Tee shirt and shorts - and Masayoshi, already waiting for him, he must have thrown himself at the bed while Gotou’s back was turned.

Light off - television was on a timer - and he crawled into bed beside Masayoshi, who snuggled up right next to him. “Welcome home,” Masayoshi murmured again, and kissed him good night.
