Summary: He could sense Mari's eyes on him before he even sat down.
He could sense Mari’s eyes on him before he even sat down. She was mad again, that was no surprise really but he couldn’t think of anything he’d done to her personally lately that would cause her ire. Masayoshi nodded absently, Ishihara’s instructions so rarely changed that he could list them by rote, but then she grabbed him by the ear and Masayoshi yelped aloud.
“You’re not paying any attention to me,” she said severely.
“I am, I am!” She mercifully released him, and Masayoshi covered his injured ear with his hand.
“What was the last thing I said?”
Masayoshi opened his mouth, realized he had no idea where she had left off in the list, and closed his mouth. “I’m not sure,” he said sheepishly, and Ishihara sighed.
“This is your first big interview since you got back,” she said, as if he needed to be reminded. Masayoshi rubbed his finger absently over the ring and blushed slightly. “They’re going to ask you a lot of questions about Gotou-kun.”
“Ha-za-ma-KUN,” Mari enunciated each syllable as she bounced over cheerfully, murder in her eyes. Masayoshi considered putting Ishihara between her and himself, remembered belatedly that wasn’t what a hero would do and then thought about it anyway. “You haven’t returned ANY of my calls.” Or texts, or e-mails, or any other method of communication she’d tried, up to and including stalking them.
“I’ve been busy,” Masayoshi said, and looked to Ishihara for help. Ishihara raised her eyebrow at him, tried to cover her amusement with the clipboard she had and failed. “…sorry?”
Mari propped her hands on her hips and eyed him. “I’ll forgive you,” she said magnanimously. “IF you’ll let me borrow your husband for some inspiration.”
“What?” Masayoshi said. “No!”
“Oh come on, it’s just a few costumes.” She grinned maliciously, and Masayoshi had the sinking suspicion that Gotou was going to kill him, if Mari didn’t get to him first.
