Samurai Flamenco - Always Game [Gotoyoshi]

Title: Always Game
Fandom: Samurai Flamenco
Characters/Pairing: Gotou/Masayoshi
Rating: T
Length: 404
Summary: "I will miss this place a little, though."

Masayoshi was lying on his back on the floor, the magazine held out above his head. The television was on the news and he was completely ignoring it. Gotou glanced at him as he stood in front of the burner and kept an eye on the bubbling pot.

“I talked to Ishihara-san,” Masayoshi called, flipping a page in the magazine idly. “She thinks she found a place we’ll like.”

Gotou stirred the sauce, tried not to think about how much he wanted a cigarette. “Really? Where’s it at?”

“Not far from my old apartment, actually.” Masayoshi dropped the magazine onto his chest and let his arms flop to either side. “I miss my stuff,” he said forlornly.

“You’ll build a new collection,” Gotou told him. “Besides, how much of it did you ever actually look at?”

“I looked at it ALL the TIME.” Masayoshi sat up furiously, and Gotou laughed. “Don’t laugh! It was important!”

“I know, I know, sorry.” He set the wooden spoon down. “That’s a nicer part of town though, we don’t need anything that swanky.”

Still seated, Masayoshi turned and faced where Gotou was standing in front of the burners. “I told her that too! It took some doing to convince people we didn’t need a mansion.” He sighed. “I don’t feel comfortable with other people paying for our housing.”

“Speak for yourself,” Gotou opened the fridge and fished out a beer. “I for one am okay with people throwing free things at you for saving the world.”

“That’s not why I did it, though.”

“Of course not.” Gotou smiled at him. “But turning down the perks is just rude.”

He sighed. “I guess.” He rocked in his seated position a moment. “We’re supposed to go see the place on Tuesday.”

“Good, I’m off that day.” He looked back down at the pot on its burner and smiled a little wistfully. “I will miss this place a little, I think.”

“Yeah,” Masayoshi said. “Me too.”
